There’s no escaping it. Election season is upon us. While it seems as if we’ve been in this Presidential rat race forever already, it’s now come down to the final stretch. Just weeks to go, the campaigns are heating up, and the ads and politicking are going to be louder, tougher, more venomous.
Our cover package takes a look at the two leading parties candidates, their positions and their pasts. Hopefully, our articles will help clear up some misconceptions or make your voting decision easier. One piece looks at both Barack Obama and John McCain and what they are doing to court your vote. A second story explores what Obama will need to do to win your support and a third talks about the daily media onslaught most of us are unable to escape. We also offer readers a simple chart of the two candidates' positions on issues that affect seniors.
On the lighter side of the election, we take a humorous look at election reform. What if we voted like viewers do for American Idol? Think about it! Phone in your vote from the comfort of your favorite easy chair.
Autumn is also apple season. We have a few great recipes to share and favorite places to get out and pick your own while enjoying the clear, crisp weather and fall foliage.
And celebrating her sixty years on stage, Judith Malina, co-founder of the Living Theater, talks to us about her extraordinary life.
There’s a lot more – enjoy the read. And don’t forget to vote!
