VOLUME 2, ISSUE 7 | MAY 2008

Welcome! A new season and a new reason to Thrive in New York City.

May’s flowers are up and so we start shedding our winter cover-ups as we head outside to enjoy wonderful, warm weather. But be careful – as our cover stories warn – too much of a good thing can be harmful…as can be not enough! Here Comes the Sun…the pros and cons of sun worship….gives us vital information to protect our skin and our bodies. Love the sun, but do it with caution!

Likewise, we take a look at one of the hottest topics surrounding this election season: with Senator John McCain in his 70s many are questioning his age. Too Old For The White House looks into this debate and wonders if 70 is the new 50 as some say.

And no May issue would be complete without a tribute for Mother’s Day. We put five questions to the author of a recent book on Jewish mothers for our story Have You Heard The One…to learn why these devoted women are the basis of so many jokes.

So laugh a little, enjoy the sun a bit, think about the greater issues facing our magnificent nation…and taste a really delicious Cornish hen by a local remarkable chef…in short – Thrive, NYC!
